The Flow View page allows you to access and manage all objects in your flow. For each imported dataset, recipe, or other object in your flow, you can perform a variety of actions to effectively manage flow development and job execution through a single page in the Trifacta application.

Basic Operations

Select any Node by left clicking on it.

When a Node is selected, the Details Panel displays on the right side

Use Ctrl/Cmd+Click to select multiple Nodes. You can also Ctrl/Cmd+Click and Drag to create a selection box.

Hover over a Dataset or Recipe Node to create new Nodes

Double-click on a Recipe to launch Transformer Grid.

Double-click on a Dataset to Preview the data.

Double-click on a Dataset Name or Recipe Name to edit the name. Same with Notes

Right click on a Node or Note to bring up a context action menu.

Right-click on the empty canvas to:

Select all, Add datasets, Auto-arrange, Add notes, or adjust the zoom level.

Click and drag a Node to reposition it on the canvas.

Click and drag the empty canvas to pan.

Join and union from flow

Users can now initiate joins and unions within the Flow View. In certain situations, it may be more natural to join or union from the Flow View as it maintains a view of the connection between the datasets. You can continue to perform joins and unions in the Transformer Grid as well if that is your preference.

Launching the Join or Union tool will open the same interface as if it was launched from Transformer Grid.

Tip: Select the datasets you want to join or union using multi-select before launching the tool, to automatically use them in the operation.

Search for flow nodes by type

Another new feature in Flows 2.0 is the ability to search the names and descriptions of different nodes within a flow. This is particularly useful for finding nodes within complex flows containing many nodes of various types. You can access the Flow Search Panel by clicking on the Search Icon located in the top bar of the Flow View page.

Auto-arrange Nodes

In 7.7+, there is also an option to auto-arrange node positions. This is useful for situations where a user wants to re-organize their custom node layout back to a fresh system-generated layout starting point. This feature may also be helpful to rearrange flow layouts that were originally created in classic flow view.
